About Me

Like so many other great things in life, it started with Christmas cookies. I had always enjoyed eating baked goods, but it wasn’t until a couple of years after the main Christmas cookie baker in our family,  my maternal grandmother, passed away, that I really started trying to bake on my own. Every year I would try some new varieties. Then I started baking things besides cookies. Fast forward a few years and I went vegetarian, then vegan, then finally decided to take the advice of so many people in my life (especially my then girlfriend, now wife) and went to culinary school to pursue a career in baking.

Of course, things in life happen at the worst/best times, and my wife was diagnosed with Celiac disease. All kinds of new and interesting things I was baking at school and work, and she couldn’t try any of them. So I started to bake more gluten free things at home, but the results were not always the best. Through lots of trial and error and putting some of my knowledge to use, I started to come up with some new and interesting recipes.

Now my wife and I have a baby girl, the Dahlia this site gets its name from. She has inspired me even more in the kitchen, as my wife and I embark on the adventure of raising a vegan baby.

This site is the result of a lot of work in the kitchen, trying to make vegan gluten free baked goods so good that people don’t realize they’re either. I hope you find some things you will love and learn some new things.

Thanks for checking my site out!
